Juror Stephen Hill Has selected one of my teabowls to be included in the 2011 Kansas City Teabowl National. The exhibit runs June 1st through the 25th and is sponsored by the KC Clay Guild

My latest Obsession

My latest obsession.....I'm having so much fun combing the beach for driftwood and creating these tiny sculptures.  These knobs are destined to adorn the lids of some future horsehair raku pieces.

Empty Bowls

Oh my......I can't believe how lazy I've been with this blog.  November was my last post and here it is already almost the end of March...But anyway   This coming Friday March 25th there will be a Empty Bowls Night at York Art Association.  This is part of the Southern Maine Clay Guild's 3rd annual winter show there.  The Empty Bowls mission is to raise money to help fight hunger.  The SMCG's artists are collaborating with York High School students and many wonderful local restaurants are donating soup.  With the purchase of a beautiful handmade bowl you'll be able to sample delicious soups and breads.  We hope that the bowl you take home with you will help us all remember that out there - everyday - there is someone who's bowl is empty.  All proceeds are being donated to the York Food Pantry.

It’s with a sigh of relief that I bid farewell to my 2010 show season.  It was a very good year but I am really looking forward to hunkering down in my studio for the winter and exploring new ideas.  Many thanks to my loyal customers for making the year a success.  My Christmas Prelude Open Studio will my last open studio for the year.  I’ll be doing one more firing before this event soooooooooooo there will be new stuff hot out of the kiln for you holiday shoppers.  If you can’t make it, you can of course call and set up a time to visit the studio.  Hope I see you there!!!

American Craft Week, coming this October 1-10, is a coast-to-coast celebration featuring more than 200 events where the public can meet artisans for whom crafting is a business.

The festivities promise artful and fun answers to the question, “What is still made in

America?” Watch a glassblower or a cabinetmaker at work. Tour pottery studios or fine

craft galleries. Art strolls, exhibitions, open houses, talks, craft demonstrations, trunk

shows and festivals are scheduled in more than 40 states. The celebration will culminate

with a national symposium, “Crafting a Nation,” at the Smithsonian American Art

Museum in Washington, D.C. “Now, more than ever, people are recognizing the enduring value of handmade craft,” says Diane Sulg, co-chair of American Craft Week. “Consider also the economic

benefits of employing Americans to create and sell these beautiful, cherished items, and

we can all support and celebrate American craft.”

tourists alike, these events feature contemporary and folk crafts in many mediums -- and

Getting Ready for Common Ground & Other Shows this September

Yesterday's School Around Us Craft Show on the Green in Kennebunkport was wonderful.  Good crowd & a beautiful day.....some people thought it was a little too cool but after an unusually warm & humid summer (for Maine anyway)...I say bring it on!!! I'm ready for fall.

Next weekend we're in Wells for a 2 day show at the Elementary School.  I love shows that are close to home ........ just have to roll out of bed & down the road.....and since we're not unpacking yesterdays show, we're all set for the next one. Yeah!

At the end month we'll be in Unity Maine at the Common Ground Country Fair.  This is my first time doing this show and I'm really excited about it........it should be a good time!  For those of you who are planning on making the trek, there's a link below to the weekend's schedule.  Homeport Pottery Studio will be in the big tent......so.......stop by and say hey to Dave & me while your there!
